How to Play: Aim for the Altar

Your aim was true, and you found the one! Now, team up and see who has the best aim for the altar in this classic lawn game.

Getting Hitched (The Setup)

Form Two Teams: Create two teams of two players (e.g., Team Vows vs. Team Rings).

Take Your Places: One player from each team stands at each board, directly across from their partner.

The Distance: The front of the boards should be about 27 feet (or 9 adult paces) apart.

The Ceremony (How to Play)
Standing beside your board, take turns tossing your four bags, aiming for the opposite board.

Keep your feet behind the front edge of the board when you toss, and no jumping the altar!

After all 8 bags have been thrown, it's time to score the round. The team that scored in the previous round tosses first in the next.

Tying the Knot (Scoring)
Only one team can score per round using cancellation scoring.

  • 3 POINTS – Down the Aisle! A bag that goes through the hole.
  • 1 POINT – On Bended Knee! A bag that lands and stays on the board.

To calculate the score: Tally each team's points for the round. The team with the higher score is awarded the difference.

Example: Team Vows scores 5 points. Team Rings scores 2 points. Team Vows wins the round and adds 3 points to their total score.

Happily Ever After (How to Win)

The first team to reach 21 points wins the bouquet and all the glory!
